EASE EB550W-Pro PSU Testing & Review

EASE – Introduction to the brand

EASE formally known as Easetech, is a Pakistani brand with OEMs in China for the PC componenents and peripheral such as Monitors, PSUs, Headphones, Motherboards, Graphics Cards, PC Cases and CPU Coolers. The PSU we have under review in this publication is particularly the 550W 80+ Bronze Unit, EB550W-Pro which is fully modular.  EASE also has a 500W PSU in the market which we will eventually review and put forward on our youtube channel as well as website.

EASE EB550W-Pro PSU

EASE EB550W-Pro PSU is 80+ Bronze PSU featuring full 540W output on the 12V rail and 10A each on the minor rails. Another plus is the modular design of the PSU output which certainly brings compactness of the cable management into play. A brief overview of the components used is as below:

EMI Filter 2-stage
Primary Capacitor SamXon HP Series 270uF 105°C 400V 2000Hrs
MOV Not Present
Secondary Capacitors SamXon LF series 105°C 2000Hrs
Secondary Side Topology DC-DC, built into main PCB design
Secondary Side Filter Capacitors Polymer/Solid Capacitors 105°C rated
Primary Rectifier GBU806

Loading & Observations

Surprisingly, EASE EB550W Pro held up well in regulation as well as noise characteristics throughout the loading criteria specified by the ATX PSU standard. Not only that, EB550W-Pro qualified for the 80+ Bronze certification criteria as well!

Our observations according to applied loads is as below:

Load Regulation 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 5Vsb Ripple 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 5Vsb Efficiency Temperature Max Inside
50% 12.2V, 4.89V, 3.27V, 5.06V 22mV, 16mV, 16.7mV, 17mV 88.8% 45°C
100% 12.0V, 4.83V, 3.2V, 4.98V 27mV, 16mV, 18mV, 19mV 85% 62°C
110% 12.02V, 4.81V, 3.19V, 4.97V 28mV, 16mV, 18mV, 20mV 66°C

Considering the noise, EB550W-Pro exhibits excellent output quality with low ripple barely reaching 30mV on 110% load. The main cause of such nose suppression is the use of Polymer capacitors on the modular daughter board to further filter out the noise apart from the SamXon LF capacitors on the secondary side.

Our Recommendations

Considering a standard system with a GPU upto RX 6700XT, with EB500W-Pro we’d pair it with a complete PC having a 65W AMD Ryzen CPU, 4x Case fans, two RAM sticks, 1 HDD and 1 NVME SSD, adding extra wattage for ARGB lighting makes the maximum total system load of 320W at DC side which this PSU is perfectly capable of. We recommend our customers the PC buids featuring such CPU-GPU combos where the power headroom is of atleast 30%.
