Load Testing & Observations

Although our automated testing carries the testing under 20% load but on manual loading for set amount of 5minutes time, we started with 50% load. PSU showed strong voltage regulation and decent ripple characteristics upto 110% of applied load. Using automated testing we found the overload trip point at 827W which is well above the 110% criteria of 605W. A brief table of our manual testing results is below.

Load Regulation 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 5Vsb Ripple 12V, 5V, 3.3V, 5Vsb Efficiency Temperature Max Inside
50% 12.15V, 4.95V, 3.24V, 5.08 22mV, 14.96mV, 23mV, 12.3mV 88% not measured
100% 12.09V, 4.92V, 3.21V, 5.05V 32.7mV, 18mV, 28mV, 17mV 86% not measured
110% 12.02V, 4.91V, 3.20V, 5.04V 36mV, 19mV, 28mV, 18mV 86% 61.4°C

Automated Testing Report

Conclusion

VITA BD 550W shows promising numbers. Although the capacitors used at rated at 85°C, 110% load temperatures were found out to be 61.4°C which relate to about 8000hrs of continuous operation under this load with room temperature of 27°C. Nevertheless, the PSU will be opreating well below 100% load so its safe to say it will last quite considerable time of use with continuous operation of upto 20,000Hrs and even outlive 8-10 years period if the computer is used for 6-8 hrs daily. Being affordable while offering ATX 3.1 compatibility, this PSU makes an excellent choice for entry level Nvidia / AMD PCI-E Gen5 Graphics cards such as RX 9060, RX 9060 XT, RTX 5060 and RTX 5060Ti.
